Unit tests will be given at the end of each unit/module. There will be approximately 6 or 7 unit tests, or 3 to 4 per semester. They will be cumulative and therefore focusing on long term retention.
There will be approximately 3 quizzes per unit. They will usually be announced..... but not always.
Homework will be assigned almost every day. Click here to view the homework policy.
Students may retake one (1) unit test per semester if and only if they completed all of their homework on time in the unit covered by the test by the time the original unit test was administered. Furthermore, to retake a unit test, the student must complete corrections on the original test prior to the retake.
The grade acquired on the retake will then be averaged with the grade earned on the original test according to this formula: (original score + 2 x new score)/3.
There are no retakes on quizzes or on the cumulative exams taken at the end of the year and at the end of the first semester.
Students will have an assignment to complete almost every day. Usually, no homework will be assigned on test days or on holiday weekends or breaks.
The correct answers to all homework questions will be given in class the next day. Students are to correct their work as we review the correct answers.
Homework will be graded but not collected. The teacher will check for completion by asking each student to show him their homework during the Warm-up. Homework is practice and will be graded based upon effort (did you attempt each problem to the best of your ability and show your work).
On occasion, during the Warm-Up, the teacher will check your warm-up section, your Investigation section.... this will be part of your homework/notebook grade.
Late assignment will not receive more than half credit.
Parents may request time extensions for their students when unusual circumstances arise.
Students who have any late or missing assignments in a chapter will not be eligible for the test retake.
