Service Project Information
What is a service project? The constitution of the National Junior High Honor Society states that it is a project in which an individual chooses an area of involvement in the line with his or her particular talents and/or interests. By emphasizing a need for service to the community, the individual is provided with an opportunity to discover and develop his or her unique contributions.
Doing something for other people is a worthwhile experience for everyone. Individual
members are response able for completing eight (8) hours of service during the
course of the school year. Service projects must meet the following criteria:
1)
Fulfill a need
within the second school or community.
2)
Have the support the administration and facility
3)
Be appropriate and educationally defensible, and not in conflict with
the activities of other school organizations
4)
Be well planned, organized, and executed.

Once you have chosen a service project, please see Mrs. Jensen for an approval signature. From then on, you need to have appropriate signatures from those adults you are helping. When you have completedyour hours, return the form to Mrs. Jensen.

How to make a phone call:
“Hello, may I please speak to the person in charge of volunteers?” (If you know
the person’s name, ask for him or her.)
Once the person is on the line, then say, “My
name is __________ and I am a member of Central Kitsap Junior Honor Society.
As a part of my membership, I complete a service project and would appreciate
an opportunity to help your organization. Could I be of help to Name of Organization)?”
When you are done with the conversation, remember
to say, “Thank You.”
