Legislative News

Over 325 parents from across Washington attended this year’s Legislative Assembly in Olympia.  Thirty-two issues related to children and education were heavily debated over the course of two days.  The top five are the main focus of the lobbying efforts for the 2006 Legislative Session. These include: K-12 Education Funding, Redefining the Definition of Basic Education, Simple Majority for School Levies and Bonds, Multiple Measures of Student Achievement, and Strengthening Mathematics and Science education.

As a CKJH PTSA member, you can have a voice through the statewide association. By accessing the WSPTA website at www.wastatepta.org, you can learn more about the issues that the PTA will be addressing with our state legislators this year. You can also sign up for legislative news bulletins and updates online. There is a wealth of information on current educational issues of which, we, as involved parents and citizens should be aware. Use your CKJH PTA membership to let your voice be heard to our legislators this year on issues that are critical to our children’s futures. Arija Gifford, Legislative Rep for CKJH PTSA.
