PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Current Newsletter (pdf format)

SPRING HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!  Daffodils are blooming, evenings are brighter and PTSA is busy as bees!  The Founder’s Day Banquet held on March 7th was a success!  We were able to honor our 2008 Golden Acorn winners….Susan Jung, Pam Dore, Pam Warner as well as last year’s winner, Steve Trunkey. All of these wonderful people put in countless hours and are dedicated to our staff and students.  We also were privileged to honor the Outstanding Educator of the Year award to Corrine Thompson. Mrs. Thompson is a devoted teacher that gives to her students whole-heartedly.  She takes care of the ‘sevies’ and attends all the student activities.  Their success in school is her top priority! Our own Frank Warner was also awarded the Community Partnership Award.  Frank is a local businessman that volunteers his time to educate parents on how to fund their children’s higher education through the ‘Cash for College’ seminars. Also, our Co-President, Leah Meadows, was awarded the Outstanding Service Award for the many volunteer activities she is involved with as well as speaking on behalf of MADD to high schools in the area about the dangers of drinking and driving.  Congratulations to all our winners and for helping make CKJH the best school in the state!

As spring begins and we prepare for the rest of the school year, there are many opportunities to get involved! At the General Meeting on March 18th, our nominating committee was elected and they will begin the process of filling the slate for next year’s officers. We would encourage everyone to step out and be a voice for our students.  Offices available are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer as well as many committee chairs.  If you have questions about any of the positions please contact Pam Warner 698-7292 or Bob Englemann  698-3144. We currently have a membership total of 420!  That is the highest parent involvement in the district! We would love to see this legacy continued for years to come!

WASL for 7th and 8th graders will be April 14-18. PTSA will provide bottled water and granola bars for our students, but we need donations.  Please drop off cases of water and/or boxes of granola bars in the office labeled WASL.  Also, check out our new bulletin board across from the office!  It has all current officers, newsletters, recent events and contact information displayed.  The Teen Stress and Depression Workshop will be held April 9 in the library. If you would like to gain some knowledge on how to help a struggling teen, please attend this valuable workshop.  PTSA will also be sponsoring an Internet Safety Presentation on May 7th at 6:30. Dangers on the internet will be explored as well as how to protect your children from them. A Seattle detective with expertise in the field will be speaking and answering questions. There are many ways to be involved at CKJH. We always need dance chaperones, food donations, concession and Walkabout volunteers, Box Tops, etc. !!…..It’s never too late to help!!

Hope you all have a fun and relaxing Spring Break!!
