Introduction to Microsoft Publisher
Publisher is an application which you can use to quickly create programs, brochures, signs, menus etc... As you create documents, you should liberally use help in order to get help on the type of document you are creating. To jump to the grading criteria, click here.
1. Launch Microsoft Publisher. Note: If you’re already in Publisher, go to File and select “Create New Publication.”
2. To access the templates, click on the little arrow next to “Publications for Design” or “Design Sets”.
3. Create 5 separate Publisher documents using the ready-made templates. Please do not create a Newsletter or a Three-Panel Brochure. (You’ve already done those in Word) Likewise, don’t create a restaurant menu. (that’s Publisher 06)
4. Once finished, save as xxxxxx01, xxxxxx02 & xxxxxx03 etc.. where “xxxxxx” is your last name. Please save Publisher documents in:

Grading Criteria: As Publisher is an incredibly easy program, there are some things of which you must be aware. Not all Publisher publications have the same amount of work. Please view the grading criteria below in order to determine the maximum grade you can earn: Please remember that many publications have multiple pages and that for each assignment, you change all the given information that is provided for you. Also, be aware that if you duplicate publications (i.e. 6 menus), 10 points will be deducted for each subsequent duplication. And of course, spelling counts (5 points off for each error) In other words: In order to get an A+ (100), you need to amass 600 points. That 100 points for each assignment. If you do lower point assignments, you will probably have more than 6 Publisher documents. When you save, just add on numbers. E.g. xxxxx07, xxxxx08, xxxxx09, etc… Continue reading for point information.
The similar publication rule does not apply to those categories where there is more than one item from which to choose. i.e.; “Postcards” have 15 separate entries in that category. Please remember, though, don’t make your publications look the same. The point here is variety. You won’t expand your learning if you create the same thing over and over again.
