DigiTools Terminology

Microprocessor - a small circuit board that controls all the processing within a DigiTool.
Hardware - The physical parts of the DigiTool.
Software - a program that contains instructions for a DigiTool. A.k.a. Application.
Message - consists of information - ideas, thoughts, or data you wish to share.
Input - the method used to enter or transmit your message to the DigiTool.
Output - information or data retrieved or received from a DigiTool.
Process -  A series of actions, changes, or functions bringing about a result.

Internet - a public, worldwide computer network made up of smaller, interconnected networks that span the Earth.

Password - a series of letters and/or numbers that you enter to gain access to a network or program.

Hacker - unauthorized users that may be able to access and misuse information if proper safeguards are not in place.

Computer virus - a destructive program loaded onto a computer.

Operating System (OS) - a program that controls the operation of a computer.

Computer Interface - the means by which users communicate and interact with the computer.

Icon - a picture that represents commands, documents or applications.
