Hello Athlete and Parents,
The season begins April 11, 2005. We are looking forward to all returning track members and many new athletes to our Central Kitsap Junior High Track Program. The events that you can participate in will include running events (sprints, middle distance or long distance), jumping events (high jump or long jump), throwing events (shot put, discus, or turbo jav) and relay teams.
Paper work should be turned in to either Mr. Keller or Mrs. Carroll. The following paper work must be completed and turned in before you can practice with the team. You must have a CURRENT PHYSICAL signed by a physician (yellow form), a new pink card, the Athletic Code form (if you do not already have one on file), and a white Insurance paper. Please return these forms BEFORE the first day of practice.
Practice begins at 2:15 every day after school, rain or shine, so dress for the weather. We use all of the practice time with team warm-ups, stretching, conditioning drills, demonstrations/review of events, individual practices, cool down and debriefing from practice. You will need to have a sweat shirt, sweat pants and good running shoes EVERY day for practice. Spikes are optional, but encouraged.
You will be issued a CK track uniform before our first meet and we ask that you, the athlete, wear the uniform with pride and distinction. You will also need to purchase spandex shorts (boys buy BLACK and girls buy WHITE) to wear under the uniform shorts. CKJH’s rich track history includes many outstanding performances, school records and District championships.
Parents, we are asking for your support and cooperation to assure that your son/daughter will attend all practices and participate fully during the time between 2:15-4:00 PM. YOUR STUDENT MUST HAVE A RIDE HOME BEFORE 4:30 PM ON PRACTICE DAYS and make arrangements to have rides after meets. There will be limited bus transportation provided to and from away meets. At home meets we rely on parent volunteers to help officiate the many events and keep our meets running smoothly. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE TRACK EXPERIENCE TO VOLUNTEER!
Students, there will also be an opportunity to buy either a sweatshirt or sweatsuit for you to keep. This is optional and is in addition to the regular uniform that the school will provide.
All of the coaches look forward to seeing you April 11th.
Mr. Keller, Mrs. Carroll, Mr. Woodford and Mr. Beale
